- Verge can help grow your school walk their talk. We can help your team with
- Facilitating faculty workshops to align curriculum to purpose
- Reviewing and resdesigning policies and procedures
- Crafting a new program, grounded in your school's mission and purpose, resulting in actionable goals and inspiring innovation
- Engaging in a human centered design strategy to make your school's schedule and calendar reflect your values
Patti's experience in startup schools with innovative programs allows her to ask the right questions to help your team create a program or framework that is unique to your school. Sample work includes the following:
- Curriculum design using a human-centered approach combined with the frameworks of Universal Design for Learning and Understanding by Design. This approach allows for curriculum work to be done in context (answering the questions teachers know are important) while anticipating and mitigating barriers to learning.
- Design inclusive language, policies, and practices that are specific to the context of your school
- Develop age-appropriate lesson content and strategies related to diverse identities and expressions
- Create a three-part coordinated series with sessions for students, faculty/staff, and parents/guardians related to a theme or big question
- Facilitate a faculty meeting focused on a challenge your team is facing
- Create an experiential interdisciplinary learning program
- Craft or revise an anti-discrimination statement
- Align co-curricular programs to a theme or purpose statement
- Craft a diversity plan for your school that reflects an understanding of the importance of intersectionality and student experience, rather than numbers or statistics, and is geared toward action rather than mere aspiration
- Identify needs and wishes of multiple constituents; clarify and contextualize the school's approach in a series of publications and community events
- Conduct a self-study for accreditation or for your own plan of growth and action
- Upend the org chart to design a structure that is authentic and actionable for your team
